Christine & Nick's Modern Urban Wedding Invitations
This was such a fun project. Christine and Nick's wedding stationery blended so many different styles and ideas together. We drew upon a variety of cultural, historical and personal elements to develop stationery that was truly one-of-a-kind.
Let's dive in on some of my favorite details fro this suite!
I really enjoyed this 'crimped' style, debossed blind impression edge on the invitation. It gave the design a cozy + soft, but still formal vibe.
We spent some time developing a color palette that made sense with both the vibe of the reception, but also aligned with some of the historical imagery we chose to include on their stationery. More on that below!
Their brand new venue, Truss, overlooks the West Side Market, which as I understand it, is a place that has special meaning to Cleveland, Ohio and has been an important landmark for many years. I was especially elated to find an old postcard image of West Side Market, and I drew directly from this image to develop their stationery palette. We landed on a variety of pink-leaning taupes, soft yellow, chocolate brown, terra cotta, and a bit of light blue. To say I adore this palette is an understatement!
In addition to these historical inspirations, I was also asked to create imagery for their welcome party, which took place at Soho Chicken and Whiskey. C&N wanted this event invitation to feel branded and unique so it could stand on its own, but also still align with the rest of the invitation suite. With the help of AI, I was able to develop a beautiful vintage style illustration that incorporated whiskey, flowers, & cigars, which were subtle themes for this Friday evening event. If you look closely, you'll see I customized the whiskey bottle with Christine and Nick's last names: Choi-Rudy.
I believe we achieved exactly what we set out to do - which was to highlight both the beauty of their wedding and their great taste, and also to develop impactful branded stationery that fell right in step with our inspiration piece - a vintage postcard of The West Side Market.
